SOLSTICE SWEATER
Bobbie Dolp, Instructor
First class Monday, 7/19, 6:00-8:00
Times for remaining classes to be determined by class participants

This delightful pattern from
Green Mountain Spinnery is inspired by a
Danish farmer's sweater. It features knitting stripes in the round with
checkered shoulders and cuffs. Skills to be applied include knitting a
hem, picking up the sleeves at the shoulders and determining the rate
of decrease to the cuff, making a steek for the armholes (optional), and
working with two colors simultaneously. Students choose either a child
or adult version. Samples of both can be checked out at the
Rose &
Ram
.

$36.00 for class plus cost of materials

SHADOW KNIT HAT
Bobbie Dolp, Instructor
First class Monday, 6/28, 6:00-8:00
Times for remaining classes to be determined by class participants

Nothing shady about this style of knitting! Try your hand at this
curious combination of knits and purls to produce a hologram-like
effect in your fabric. It is sometimes called Optical Knitting because of
the way the patterns are revealed when the wearer moves, giving an
ever changing appearance. When seen from the front, the fabric looks
like regular garter stitch, but when viewed from the side...aha! This
magical effect is achieved very easily with a combination of knits and
purls. After a bit of practice, students will make a hat which will
certainly be a conversation piece. See the Shadow Knitting samples in
the shop - hat, pillow and sweater vest.

OVERSIZED BERET
Pat Pennock, Instructor
Saturday, 7/31 & 8/7, 9:30-11:30

This is a small project enabling the student to practice increases and
decreases. A good project for a quick gift.

$25.00 for 2 classes plus cost of materials.

SNOWBOARDER HAT
Pat Pennock, Instructor
Saturday, 7/31 & 8/7, 12:30-2:30

This pattern from
Fibertrends includes 3 sizes and two finishes.
Increases and decreases define the shape. Finishes include I-cord tassels
or pom poms. Knit from chunky yarn or two strands of bulky, there is
time to make several for holiday gifts.

$25.00 for 2 classes plus cost of materials.

ELIZABETH ZIMMERMAN'S "HALTER VEST "
Bobbie Dolp, Instructor
Saturday, 8/7 10:00-12:00
Time for remaining class to be determined by class participants

True to many of Elizabeth's designs, this "halter" top is seamless. Can
you wrap your mind around this?... It begins with a cast on across the
back at the underarms and is then decreased at the beginning of each
row. The back of the neck is then cast off, and thin straps lead to the
right and left fronts which are joined at the bottom of the neck front
opening. The front and back are then joined and the body is worked in
the round. What an incredible mind! This class is in honor of what
would have been Elizabeth's 100th birthday on August 9th of this
year.

$25.00 for 2 classes plus cost of materials.

samples at the
Rose & Ram. Kits come in 5 different colorways.

Pat Pennock, Instructor

This class is all about knitting in the round with 5 double pointed
needles. Turning the heel, decreasing, and the kitchener stitch are
covered. Pattern included with class gives instruction for knitting
socks with all weights of yarn.

$36.00 plus cost of materials

SOCKS ON CIRCS
Jan Johnson, Instructor
Dates and times to be announced

This is a brilliant technique which you may well have heard! Two
circular needles are used to knit a sock. One half of the sock is worked
off the points of one circular needle, while the other needle "rests",
which creates just enough of a bend to give the working needles the
angle they need. This technique can also be used for cuffs, hats and
any other project calling for double-pointed needles.

$36.00 plus cost of materials.

FINGERLESS GLOVES
Pat Pennock, Instructor
Thursday, 8/19 & 8/26, 5:30-7:30
