About Rose & Ram Knit Shop
Continued...
As pleasant as the surroundings are, the true attractions are the
various fibers you will find, from wool to cottons and blends.
Cashmere, llama, and alpaca offer luxurious alternatives and
exotics such as soysilk and bamboo can also be found. Colors of
the rainbow range from the warm hues of natural dyes to brightly
colored modern themes.
A healthy representation of natural undyed wools can also be
found, including yarn from Jan’s own flock of Shetland Sheep. Sold
as Sheepkids ™ fibers, these locally grown products take various
forms and the finished yarns are a shop favorite. Spinners will be
excited to learn that these locals fibers can also be spun from
roving. Raw fleeces are also available for those who like to process
their own.
For those who are ready to expand (or brush up) their skills,
classes are available in small group format. Taught by a number of
respected local fiber artists, these classes will enable you to
increase the range of items you can produce. Class offerings range
from basic classes for adults / children (simple scarf and sock
classes) to advanced techniques such as Fair Isle and neck-down
sweaters.
On Thursday and Friday nights, the shop is open late, with open
knitting, discussion, town chat, and general good times. During the
summer, open air movies and live music run in the amphitheater
(just across the way) after sundown.
Specific shop-time has been set aside for one-on-one assistance
with projects, on Thursdays from 2:00-4:00 PM and Fridays from
5:30-7:30 PM. (Check out Studio Walk-In under Classes.)
